NOTES: Well, crap.  Whatever voodoo Ian Kinsler is running from Detroit is working.  Fielder goes on the DL for the first time in his career.  If the injury they’re talking about is the cause for his power outage, it would explain a lot, especially given his drop in power going back to Detroit last season.  He’s out for the year, if not officially, definitely realistically.

Donnie Murphy is back in the latest round of musical chairs roster moves.

NOTES: JP Arencebia simply was not producing, and while he’s good on defense, his offense was so horrible, it cost him his spot on the roster.  Sent to AAA.  Chris Gimenez was purchased from there.  Chris returns after being part of the original opening day 25 man roster, and then sent out before ever playing at all.  So he’ll be looking to make his technical 2014 debut, even if he was already on the roster earlier this season.

NOTES: The worst part of this transaction sheet is that the biggest news of the day: Matt Harrison.   Harrison will need spinal fusion surgery, and from the way they’re talking, it could be a career ending procedure.  Additionally, Martin Perez will likely need Tommy John surgery, so he’s over for 2014, and realistically for most of 2015, as well.  That’s a damn shame.  Liked both these guys a lot, and was really hoping they’d pull through and help the team.   Pretty bad day for the Rangers, that’s for sure.  :(

Hopefully Nick Tepesch can show some of that form he had last year, as we need the help.  There’s no doubt about that.  Sad part is that we’re likely to see Joe Saunders again. Ick.

NOTES: Oh my.  This is reading a bit like a spring training transaction sheet.  The number of guys coming and going this year will set some sort of major league record if it keeps up, I would imagine.  I don’t know much about the guys coming up, except that Odor is a big talent.  Perhaps not a big a name as Jurickson Profar was when he first came up, but a big name anyway.

Josh Wilson didn’t bother me so much.  He wasn’t any long term answer, but I liked him – always like backup players like that.
