In the last two weeks I’ve come down with a pulled muscle in my neck that is made more painful if I do things that involve my hands. Such as typing for any length of time, and playing videogames. That’s why I’ve disappeared. When this clears up, I’ll play catch up, but I didn’t want people to think I’ve abandoned ship.
Luis Martinez recalled
- C Luis Martinez (#15) recalled from AAA Round Rock
- P Yoshinori Tateyama optioned to AAA Round Rock
NOTES: Not entirely sure why we picked up a third catcher here.
Derek Holland Back from DL
- P Derek Holland activated from DL
- P Justin Grimm optioned to AA Frisco [ Link ]
NOTES: No surprise, we knew Holland was coming back, and I didn’t think Grimm was a realistic long term option right now, despite his first start.
Mark Lowe to DL
- P Mark Lowe placed on 15 day DL
- P Yoshinori Tateyama recalled from AAA [ Link ]
G76: Rangers win slugfest, 13-9
Ah yes, another one of those lovely well pitched games where the box score shows you have 22 runs and 34 hits. That means there will be not much good to write about pitching wise. But I might try and find something anyway.

Colby Lewis to DL
- P Colby Lewis placed on 15 day DL
- P Martin Perez (#33) recalled from AA [ Link ]
NOTES: Shame, as Lewis was someone I liked. Now that he’s actually out for the year, it makes the acquisition of Oswalt more important. Not unless he becomes a head case like he did in Philly. ;( Don’t know a ton about Perez, but I suspect he’s more a stopgap for the moment.
G75: Darvish Ks 10, gets 7-5 win
When I fought about Yu Darvish coming here, I never really thought of him as a strikeout pitcher. Maybe it’s because of his size, but I don’t know but he never struck me as a big strikeout pitcher. However all the guys who started for the Rangers in quite a while he seems to be the most consistent in getting 10+ strikeout games. This game was no different. Darvish had 10 strikeouts over seven innings. [Read more…]
G74: Grimm bombed; Rangers lose 8-2
I don’t think any Rangers fan with doubt that awesomeness of Justin Grimm’s first major-league outing. He just rocked it. However, his second outing was quite the opposite – he got rocked himself! His line was so bad, I think I heard Mark Clark somewhere saying “Man that was bad!”
G73: Leonys Martin leads 4-2 win
The Rangers finished up interleague play for 2012 with a nice 4-2 win over the Rockies. While the final score was 4-2 the Rangers were actually pretty much out in front this entire game. And fact, the only two runs the Rockies got both came in the ninth inning and not off of starter Matt Harrison.
G72: Rangers blown out, lose to Rockies 11-7
While the final score was only four runs, the Rangers were down at one point 11-1. We did pick up a six spot in the bottom of the fifth that was quite nice. But that was the end of the scoring. The last four innings were all zeroes.
You would have thought that Scott Feldman was so mad at being moved back to the bullpen he knocked out Colby lewis, stole his uniform and pitched as Lewis. Oh well…
