G140: Rangers shut out, lose 6-0

Posted by Joe Siegler on September 9, 2012 at 1:56 pm http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2012_09_09_texmlb_tbamlb_1&mode=wrap, L: 2-0>MLB.com Recap

Nelson Cruz & David Murphy had singles.  That’s IT.   James Shields just shut us down.   Two singles, no walks, struck out eight times.  Our offense did nothing.

Roy Oswalt started this, and is probably done.  Two innings, six hits, four earned runs, just ugh.

Bleargh for this one.

G139: More extras, we win this time, 4-2

Posted by Joe Siegler on September 8, 2012 at 1:34 pm http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2012_09_08_texmlb_tbamlb_1&mode=wrap>MLB.com Recap

Jurickson Profar!   Should we buy into it totally at this point?  :)

It was a big pitching duel for sure.  Yu Darvish pitched awesome, but got a no decision.  Eight innings, two hits and two runs (just one earned).  Eight strikeouts and two walks on 96 pitches.  He deserved a win.  Didn’t get it.  But at least we got one.     The Rays only had three hits total.  Two by Darvish, one by Mike Adams.  Was a great pitching performance all around.  I would have been very annoyed if we didn’t at least get the win.

Josh Hamilton got his 40th home run of the season, a two run shot in the 4th inning.  Geovany Soto had a double, but the most important hit was the one hit that Jurickson Profar got in the 10th inning, a two run one that won the game.   Didn’t get to see it, wish I would have.

G138: Rangers lose in walkoff in extras 3-1

Posted by Joe Siegler on September 7, 2012 at 1:14 pm http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2012_09_07_texmlb_tbamlb_1&mode=wrap>MLB.com Recap

Given I just talked about extra innings a lot the last few games, I go and get one of these, that usually make me review the game with “Shit!”.   So I’m not going to say much, because we lose in a walkoff on the road.

But I’d be remiss in not talking about Derek Holland, who rocked this game.  8 innings, just two hits allowed.   One of the hits was a solo home run for the run.   Walked two, but struck out eleven in eight innings.   Oh, Michael Young got a home run – not something he does often.

Mark Lowe blew it at the end and lost the game.   Shit.

G137: Rangers in in 10 over Royals, 5-4

Posted by Joe Siegler on September 6, 2012 at 12:51 pm http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2012_09_06_texmlb_kcamlb_1&mode=wrap>MLB.com Recap

I normally dislike extra innings games, as I’ve said before, because most of the time it feels like we lose them in the 10th inning.   There’s a feeling that it’s more “sudden death”, and if we get behind, it’s over.  So I like it a lot when we win in extra innings – it feels more “earned” or something.  :) [Read more…]

G135: Harrison loses again, 6-3 to Royals

Posted by Joe Siegler on September 4, 2012 at 10:33 pm http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2012_09_04_texmlb_kcamlb_1&mode=wrap>MLB.com Recap

Ugh.  That’s two not good outings in a row for Matt Harrison.  Not liking that.

Elvis Andrus had a home run.  I liked that.   That was about it, though.

G134: Darvish wins again, 8-4 over Royals

Posted by Joe Siegler on September 3, 2012 at 10:16 pm http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2012_09_03_texmlb_kcamlb_1&mode=wrap>MLB.com Recap

The Rangers go into Kansas City, a mild “house of horrors” in recent years, and seemingly weren’t bothered by that.   They were up 6-0 going into the bottom of the 6th before they surrendered any runs at all.   Yu Darvish got another win.   It was a good win for the Rangers.  Any win is a good win, of course, but this one in particular I liked because it happened in Kansas City.

G132: Feldman does it again, we lose 4-3

Posted by Joe Siegler on September 1, 2012 at 5:28 pm http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2012_09_01_texmlb_clemlb_1&mode=wrap>MLB.com Recap

Feldman does it again.  I got so annoyed by this, I’m only writing this small bit.  Feldman gave up four runs in the bottom of the first.  We never came back from it.

David Murphy and Adrian Beltre did have home runs in this game, but bah – Feldman sucked.

  • P Tyler Tufts purchased from AA and immediately placed on 15 day DL (OUCH, actually happened Aug 31)
  • P Robbie Ross placed on 15 day DL
  • OF Leonys Martin recalled from AAA
  • P Martin Perez recalled from AAA
  • IF Jurickson Profar purchased from AA
  • P Tanner Scheppers recalled from AAA
  • IF Brandon Snyder recalled from AAA
  • P Yoshinori Tateyama recalled from AAA
  • P Miguel De Los Santos designated for assignment

NOTES: Several of these are no big surprise.  The move for Tyler Tufts sounds painful for sure.   The biggest deal here is of course Jurickson Profar.  I know Jamey Newberg is positively salivating over this one.  :)

About Site

This is a Texas Rangers fan site run by Joe Siegler. From 1999 through 2013 I used to do daily game updates, but got burnt out on that and stopped.

The site lives on as my favorite section to update I’m still very interested in. That is the Uniform Number history pages, which I’m quite proud of. Plus Ill write the odd article here and there.

I mostly spend my time in this Facebook group talking about the Rangers these days.

If you have any questions, please feel free to drop me a line.
