G99: Rangers lose to ChiSox, 5-2

Posted by Joe Siegler on July 28, 2012 at 11:00 pm http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2012_07_28_chamlb_texmlb_1&mode=wrap>MLB.com Recap

I’d like to blame this on the Rangers starter, Matt Harrison, but I can’t.  Not really.  Oh sure, he gave up five runs over seven innings, so it’s nothing to write home about.  But I blame this one on our suddenly flaccid offense.   The Rangers offense has scored the fewest runs of any major league team in the month of July.  Think about that.  OUR OFFENSE.  Worst of all the mlb teams this month.  That’s quite a statement.

I mean, our entire offense for the night was five hits.  They were:

  • Home Run by Mike Napoli
  • Triple by Michael Young
  • Double by Leonys Martin
  • Double by David Murphy
  • Single by Adrian Beltre

That’s it.  Now, 4/5 hits being extra base hits is a nice touch, but we should have been able to manage more than five bloody hits.  This extended funk is starting to make me feel like I felt about the Phillies over the last 18 months.  Great hitting team, all of a sudden lost the ability to do it, and never got it back.  Phillies are gonna have to fire sale soon.  I don’t want to go down that path as a fan again.

Tanner Scheppers & Michael Kirkman pitched perfect innings of relief.  Kirkman struck out the side, and allowed nothing else.

But the damage was done.  To the Rangers bats apparently.  Where’s Rudy Jaramillo?

About Site

This is a Texas Rangers fan site run by Joe Siegler. From 1999 through 2013 I used to do daily game updates, but got burnt out on that and stopped.

The site lives on as my favorite section to update I’m still very interested in. That is the Uniform Number history pages, which I’m quite proud of. Plus Ill write the odd article here and there.

I mostly spend my time in this Facebook group talking about the Rangers these days.

If you have any questions, please feel free to drop me a line.
