Anyone seen the HD schedule? [ UPDATE ]

Posted by Joe Siegler on March 31, 2009 at 2:30 pm

UPDATE: That is seriously funny timing. Two hours after I posted this, the HD schedule was released today. Here it is..
As I now have an HDTV, and this will be my first full season with one of those, I’m most interested in the HDTV plans for the Rangers. If you go to their website, this text appears on the “TV Broadcasts Page“…

FSSW High-Definition For the second consecutive season, the majority of Rangers games will be presented in high-definition on FOX Sports Southwest HD, KDFI My27 HD and KDFW FOX 4 HD where available. A complete Rangers HD schedule will be announced once it is finalized.

The actual broadcast schedule page has nothing about HD, just whether it’s Ch 27 or FSSW.
So my question is this. Where is the HD schedule? It’s now six days from the home opener, and five days from the overall season opening game on Sunday night. I find it hard to believe this schedule doesn’t exist. My TiVo has guide information til about April 15th or so right now, and so far, every game the Rangers are playing is on a HD channel.
Has anyone seen the actual HD schedule published anywhere? If so, where? Please tell me.

From what I can tell by staring at the HD schedule for a bit of the 158 games being broadcast by the Rangers and not national, 117 of them will be in HD. Of the 41 not being carried in HD are only 2 home games, but even those I question. Opening day doesn’t have HD by it nor does Wed 4/15 against Baltimore. I would think opening day would be but as of this second, it’s not listed.
So, that leaves 39 road games not being broadcast in HD. From what I can tell there are 2 rules, 1 is that any road game on channel 27 are not in HD. That’s 12 games right there. (The other 12 games being broadcast by 27 are home games and are in HD). The second rule appears to be the Northeast. No games are being broadcast in HD from Toronto, Baltimore, Cleveland, Chicago, New York or Boston. That’s an additional 28 games. (One of those must be on channel 27, which is why the math doesn’t work. Either that or I screwed up the math, which is possible).
This is better than last year where HD was spotty until May and even then it was basically just home games. Maybe next year they will get some HD trucks that travel to New York.

About Site

This is a Texas Rangers fan site run by Joe Siegler. From 1999 through 2013 I used to do daily game updates, but got burnt out on that and stopped.

The site lives on as my favorite section to update I’m still very interested in. That is the Uniform Number history pages, which I’m quite proud of. Plus Ill write the odd article here and there.

I mostly spend my time in this Facebook group talking about the Rangers these days.

If you have any questions, please feel free to drop me a line.
