ST15: Rangers take Padres game too, 5-2

Posted by Joe Siegler on March 9, 2013 at 11:34 pm http://texas.rangers.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2013_03_09_texmlb_sdnmlb_1&mode=recap&c_id=tex>MLB.com Recap

…and this was the second of the two split squad games Saturday.  This is the road game, managed by Ron Washington with a starting lineup that featured only Craig Gentry & Geovany Soto (maybe Mike Olt) from the expected opening day roster.   This was borne out in the pitching staff too, as the Rangers used nine different pitchers, each throwing one inning.   All but one of them threw a scoreless inning.   The only one who didn’t was Tateyama, who gave up the two Padres runs.  It was a two run home run, as well.   Tateyama actually only faced five batters!

The Rangers were helped by three Padres errors.  They also walked two, so those were the gifts before our offense did anything of their own accord.   The Rangers team had 13 hits in all, but like the other SS game today, a ton of singles.  Only one double, and two home runs were mixed in amongst the 10 singles.   So not a big power game for sure.

Jeff Baker led the charge, with three hits, raising his spring batting average to .481.   Two other guys (Adduci & Solarte) had two hits.  The the rest were scattered.

For some reason, reading this box score after the fact, didn’t reveal a huge story to write about, but with 200 or so games to write for a season, not all of them are going to be A level recaps.  haha.  :)

About Site

This is a Texas Rangers fan site run by Joe Siegler. From 1999 through 2013 I used to do daily game updates, but got burnt out on that and stopped.

The site lives on as my favorite section to update I’m still very interested in. That is the Uniform Number history pages, which I’m quite proud of. Plus Ill write the odd article here and there.

I mostly spend my time in this Facebook group talking about the Rangers these days.

If you have any questions, please feel free to drop me a line.
