ST15: Back to .500 with 10-9 slugfest win on Friday

Posted by Joe Siegler on March 17, 2006 at 10:53 pm

The project continues. This was on TV, actually, I picked it up off of the Chicago channel, but I had seen the score before I came home, so there’s almost no point when I know the score.
The short notes version:
Back to .500.
Blalock, Nix, Laird all had home runs
All four Ranger pitchers gave up at least two runs
Mark Buehrle got bombed.
Nix & Laird had 3 RBI each
Hopefully I’ll get to listen to Saturday’s game on the radio. :)

Game Recap
TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Chicago manager Ozzie Guillen is growing concerned about the White Sox bullpen as the regular season approaches.
The Texas Rangers got to Agustin Montero for three runs in the ninth inning of a 10-9 victory over the White Sox on Friday.
“I have never seen anything like this,” Guillen said. “Here is a shot, take it, and nobody is grabbing it.”
Chicago’s starting pitchers had allowed 11 earned runs in 33 innings heading into Friday’s game but the White Sox had a 6.43 team ERA in the spring because of their bullpen.
The troubled White Sox relievers include Armando Almanza (12.71 ERA), Dustin Hermanson (13.50), Javier Lopez (5.40) and Tim Redding (8.44). Boone Logan, who has been the most impressive reliever, giving up three hits in 4 2-3 innings, is a 21-year-old left-hander who pitched at Single-A a year ago.
“I don’t care if you play little league last year, you perform here, and open my eyes, we are going to keep you,” Guillen said.
Chicago (3-13), which has lost six straight and seven of eight, led 8-7 but Laynce Nix hit a two-run homer in the Rangers’ three-run ninth.
Gerald Laird had a three-run homer and Hank Blalock added a solo shot for Texas (7-7), which got to White Sox starter Mark Buehrle for nine hits and seven runs in five innings.
“I hung the ball the first couple of innings. Location-wise I didn’t have it,” Buehrle said.
A.J. Pierzynski and Jermaine Dye homered for the White Sox.

About Site

This is a Texas Rangers fan site run by Joe Siegler. From 1999 through 2013 I used to do daily game updates, but got burnt out on that and stopped.

The site lives on as my favorite section to update I’m still very interested in. That is the Uniform Number history pages, which I’m quite proud of. Plus Ill write the odd article here and there.

I mostly spend my time in this Facebook group talking about the Rangers these days.

If you have any questions, please feel free to drop me a line.
