ST13: Rangers drop fourth in a row, 8-5 to Angels

Posted by Joe Siegler on March 15, 2006 at 9:43 pm

Mench picked off in the first
Ian Kinsler caught stealing in the second
D’Angelo Jimenez mental error on the bases doubled off.
Runner thrown out at home
Those were my only notes I took during yesterday’s game, as I’ve been horribly busy with a big project at work. Was nice to see Kinsler get a home run, too. That’s about all I have time for today. :)

Game Recap
TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — Right-hander John Lackey, hampered by shoulder soreness this spring, pitched three scoreless innings Wednesday in the Los Angeles Angels’ 8-5 victory over the Texas Rangers.
“I was real encouraged,” said Lackey, who allowed one hit while walking none and striking out one. “The ball felt like it was coming out good. It’s a good one to build on. By far this is the best I’ve felt since I’ve been here. It’s pretty much going to be straight ahead from here, hopefully.”
Lackey, who had a 14-5 record in 33 starts last season, threw one inning in a start against the Chicago Cubs on March 10 — his only previous outing this spring.
“John was outstanding,” Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. “He’s where he needs to be. His stuff looked great. His ball was coming out of his hand as well as we’ve seen it.”
Scioscia pulled Lackey after 39 pitches and had him throw a few more pitches in the bullpen after he left the field.
Texas knuckleballer R.A. Dickey had his worst outing of the spring, allowing five hits, three walks and five runs in four innings.
Orlando Cabrera and Vladimir Guerrero hit back-to-back homers off Rangers reliever Antonio Alfonseca in the fifth. Casey Kotchman also homered and Adam Kennedy had three hits for the Angels.
Brad Wilkerson drove in two runs for the Rangers.
The Angels also reassigned right-hander David Austen, shortstop Brandon Wood and catchers Bobby Wilson and Michael Collins to their minor league camp.

About Site

This is a Texas Rangers fan site run by Joe Siegler. From 1999 through 2013 I used to do daily game updates, but got burnt out on that and stopped.

The site lives on as my favorite section to update I’m still very interested in. That is the Uniform Number history pages, which I’m quite proud of. Plus Ill write the odd article here and there.

I mostly spend my time in this Facebook group talking about the Rangers these days.

If you have any questions, please feel free to drop me a line.
