Commentary (by me)

Well, I didn't get to listen to this entire game, as I forgot it was on in the evening.  I can say this.  I hope this kind of pitching holds up.  Wow!   With the exception of the bottom of the 9th, it was really great.  No runs given up at all by anyone until the bottom of the 9th.   Less hits than innings pitched is always good, and Loaiza looked sharp.  Hope it keeps up.

The bottom of the 9th is one of those things that drive a manager nuts.  It drove me nuts and I was just listening on my radio!  Still, the pitching was a real plus, and that's something to feel good about.  I particularly liked Mike Morgan.  Hope he works out.

Game Recap

SARASOTA, FLORIDA (TICKER) -- Brook Fordyce atoned for an error with an RBI single and Dmitri Young followed with a run-scoring infield hit as the Cincinnati Reds rallied in the ninth inning for a 2-1 victory over the Texas Rangers.

Fordyce, a catcher, dropped a throw to the plate that allowed Scott Sheldon to score the game's first run in the top of the eighth.

Both teams pitched very well. Rangers starter Esteban Loaiza allowed one hit over two innings and Reds starter Brett Tomko allowed two hits over three innings.

The winner was Gabe White. Brandon Knight took the loss.
