Commentary (by me)

Well, I can't really offer any commentary on this, as the game wasn't on the radio or the TV.  I tried listening over the Internet to the station that the Devil Rays broadcast on, but they weren't broadcasting, either.  :(

However, the Line Score showed something ugly.  Three errors.  That's not good. And Burkett gave up three runs in two innings (although one of them was unearned).  That's an ERA of around 10.  Also not good.  On the plus side, we turned a triple play, which is way cool.  Now I really wish it was on TV.  :)

Game Recap

PORT CHARLOTTE, FLORIDA (TICKER) -- The Texas Rangers turned a triple play in the sixth inning and held on for their first win of the exhibition season, 6-4 over the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

Leading 6-3, third baseman Rob Sasser snagged John Flaherty's line drive and threw to second to double off Fred McGriff before Kelly Dransfeldt fired to first to nail Julio Franco.

The Devil Rays closed within 6-4 in the eighth, but Mike Venafro recorded the final out in the ninth with a runner on base.

Tim Crabtree tossed a scoreless inning for the victory as the Rangers improved to 1-3 this spring. They allowed 27 runs over their first three games.

Tampa Bay built a 3-0 lead after its first two turns at bat, but the Rangers scored three times in the second and Roberto Kelly snapped the tie in the third with a two-run homer off Steve Ontiveros.

Texas starter John Burkett surrendered two earned runs and four hits with two walks and three strikeouts over two innings.
